성탄🌈🎄
예수께서는 다 자란 성인의 몸으로 오시지 않았습니다. 작지만 무한한 가능성을 지닌 아기의 모습으로 오셨습니다. 자라며 보고 듣는 것에 따라 얼마든지 달라질 수 있는 가장 유연한 존재로 오셨습니다. 그 유연함으로 우리를 품으셨고, 소외 받는 이들을 감싸 안는 복음, 하나님의 사랑은 모두를 위한 것이라는 복음을 노래하셨습니다.
교회도 마찬가지라고 믿습니다. 교회 구조나 교리, 심지어 성경도 모두 어른이 아닙니다. 가장 아름다운 모습으로 변하며 자라는 아이이어야 합니다. 혹시 이런 교회를 몸과 마음이 굳어버린 성인으로 대하고 있지는 않았나요? 혹시 교리와 성경은 이미 완성되어 굳어버린 것이라고 말하며 교회의 무한한 가능성을, 그 성장판을 막아버리지는 않았나요?
예수께서는 이성애 규범을 따르는 모습으로 세상에 오시지 않았습니다. 다르지만 무한한 가능성을 지닌 퀴어의 모습으로 오셨습니다. 살아가며 얼마든지 달라질 수 있는 가장 유연한 존재로 오셨습니다. 그 유연함으로 우리를 품으셨고, 우리에게 가장 필요한 복음, 소외 받는 이들을 감싸 안는 복음, 하나님의 사랑은 모두를 위한 것이라는 복음을 노래하셨습니다.
교회도 마찬가지라고 믿습니다. 교회 구조나 교리, 심지어 성경도 모두 이성애 규범에 갇혀있어서는 안 됩니다. 가장 아름다운 모습으로 변하며 자라는 퀴어이어야 합니다. 혹시 이런 교회를 몸과 마음이 굳어버린 꼰대로 대하고 있지는 않았나요? 혹시 교리와 성경은 이미 완성되어 굳어버린 것이라고 말하며 교회의 무한한 가능성을, 그 성장판을 막아버리지는 않았나요?

Jesus didn’t come as a grown-up. She came as a baby, small but filled with unlimited potential. Because she was a baby, Jesus was able to adapt herself to what she saw and heard growing up. With that flexibility, she embraced us and presented the Gospel of inclusion, the Gospel saying God loves everyone.
The Church is not a grown-up either. None of the doctrines, ecclesial systems, or the Scripture is adult. They are growing—or supposed to grow—featuring the most beautiful. We need to check if we haven’t treated the Church as an adult. Didn’t we shut the possibilities of the Church by saying the Bible and Christian teachings are fixed and permanent? Didn’t we block its growth?
Jesus didn’t come as a hetero-normative dude. They came as a queer, different but filled with unlimited potential. Because they were queer, Jesus was able to adapt themselves to who they are and whom they love. With that flexibility, they embraced us and presented the Gospel of inclusion, the Gospel saying God loves everyone.
The Church shall not be hetero-normative either. None of the doctrines, ecclesial systems, or the Scripture should be trapped in stupid boxes. They are changing—or supposed to change—featuring the most beautiful. We need to check if we haven’t shut the possibilities of the Church by saying the Bible and Christian teachings are fixed and permanent? Didn’t we block its growth?
That’s why we celebrate our baby Jesus, our queer Jesus: to remind ourselves that the Church is also a child and queer. Merry Queristmas!
