SHOWING vs. DOING

처음 프로젝트를 기획하면서 마음 한 켠을 지켰던 생각은 ‘보여주자’였습니다.

퀴어 공동체에게는 한국 교회에도 사랑이 있음을 보여주고 싶었고,

진보적인 미국 교회들에게는 한인 교회도 다를 수 있음을 보여주고 싶었고,

지역 한인 교회들에게는 바뀌어야 함을 보여주고 싶었습니다.

꽤 긴 시간이 흐르고 몇가지 에피소드가 지나간 지금 더 커진 생각은 ‘하자’입니다.

남에게 어떻게 보이던 보다 중요한 것은 우리가 믿는 것을 하는 것입니다.

우리는 하나님께서 우리 모두를 있는 그대로 사랑하신다고 믿습니다.

그래서 그 사랑을 품으려 합니다.

이제 첫 예배까지 3일 남았습니다. 함께 할 분들을 기다립니다.

In the earliest stages of the Project, displaying what we believe was at the top of our agenda. We wanted to ‘show’ the queer community Korean churches can be welcoming & affirming. We wanted to ‘show’ progressive American churches the existence of progressive Korean American Christians. We wanted to ‘show’ local Korean immigrant congregations the urgent need for change.

But after undergoing a series of mind-shifting events, we now are more oriented to ‘do.’ Regardless of how others depict us, we believe God loves all of us as who we are. So we ‘do’ that love as a community of faith.

Three days to the first worship and waiting for those who can ‘do’ with us.
